Import Demos Manually

Install WordPress Theme

Once you purchase and download the theme package, unzip the file. Inside, you will find a file named “Pictech-wp.zip”, which is the main file you need to upload and install on your WordPress website. Below are two methods for installing the Pictech WordPress theme.

1. Install Via Dashboard

  • Step 1: Login to your WordPress website
  • Step 2: Go to Appearance > Themes and click Add New
  • Step 3: Select Upload Theme
  • Step 4: Click Browse and select the “Pictech-wp.zip” file.
  • Step 5: Click Install Now button.
  • Step 6: Once the upload and installation are complete, click on Activate, or navigate to Appearance > Themes to activate the Pictech theme.

2. Install Via FTP Client

  • Step 1: Login to your hosting via FTP client application (such as FileZilla and CoreFTP)
  • Step 2: Go to wp-content > themes directory
  • Step 3: Upload Pictech theme folder (uncompressed) into this directory
  • Step 4: Go to WordPress Dashboard again, navigate to Appearance> Themes, and activate the “Pictech” theme.

Install Plugins

After installing Pictech theme, you’ll see a notification in the top of the page that says “Install Required Plugins”. You need to install all required plugins to work properly with the Pictech theme and import demos. Or,

  • Step 1: Go to Appearance > Install Plugins
  • Step 2: You’ll be redirected to a page where all needed plugins are listed. Select all the listed plugins and click “Install> Apply” button.
  • Step 4: After installing the plugins, you need to activate them. You can activate all plugins at once by using the bulk activation feature with a single click (Activate> Apply).

Import Demo Data Manually

To manually import the PicTech demo content, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Tools → Import
    In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Tools > Import.
  2. Choose WordPress
    From the list of import options, select WordPress and follow the prompt to install the WordPress importer plugin if it’s not already installed.
  3. Upload the Demo File
    After the importer is ready, upload the demo file Pictech-demo-data.xml located at “Downloaded Theme Directory/Demo Content.”
    • theme-options (Directory -> theme-options.json)
    • pictech-demo-data.xml
    • pictech-export.dat
    • pictech-widgets.wie
  4. Map Authors
    During the import, you’ll be asked to map the authors in the demo file to users on your blog. You can either map them to existing users or create new users as needed.
  5. Import Attachments
    To include images and other media, check the box labeled Download and import file attachments. This will pull in all associated media files.
  6. Complete the Import
    Click to proceed and allow WordPress to import all demo content, which includes Posts, Pages, Projects, and Menus.

Importing Theme Option Backup Data

To import the theme option backup data for PicTech, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to PicTech Options
    In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Pictech Options.
  2. Go to Export & Import
    Inside the PicTech Options panel, select Export & Import from the available options.
  3. Paste Backup Data
    Open the theme-option-import.json file from the downloaded demo content files (Pictech/demo-content/theme-options/theme-option-import.json). Copy the contents of this file.
  4. Import the Backup
    In the import section, paste the copied data into the provided field, and then click Import a backup.

Your theme options will now be restored based on the backup data provided.
